Snoring is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound, due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping. In some cases the sound may be soft but in other cases it can be loud and unpleasant as we all have most likely encountered at some point in our lives. There are different reasons why we snore. Some of them are throat weakness which will cause the throat to close during sleep, mispositioned jaw that could be caused by tension in the muscles, excess fat in and around the throat meaning you need to increase your level of physical activity if possible, relaxants such as alcohol or drugs, that cause the throat muscles to relax resulting in snoring, sleeping on one’s back etc. Snoring can cause sleep deprivation issues for the snorers and for the people that share the same room with them. I snore too loudly and have been told so by my family many times. I did some research to find a solution to my problem. During my thorough research, I ran into a product that I think it is worth talking about – it’s called the Snore RX.

So what is SnoreRX? According to the official website SnoreRx is an advanced patent pending medical grade oral appliance that is designed to deliver maximum patient comfort and clinical effectiveness in reducing snoring with a modular fashion to deliver both comfort and maximum clinical effectiveness. As with all products you should read and follow the instructions but SnoreRx in essence is a very safe product, it doesn’t contain any BPA (Bisphenol), latex or acrylics. It has a revolutionary design and includes a built in Calibrator. The Calibrator allows the bottom section of the mouthpiece to maneuver in a forward direction to fulfill individual needs. It’s worth mentioning that it is FDA approved product. The mouth piece lasts approximately 12-15 months which is way ahead of the other products on the market. I know that some of you will ask “But since it is a mouthpiece can you get a TMD/TMJ pain?”, the answer is “No”, it is a product that is very friendly to your jaw. Unlike other aesthetic mouthpieces, it does not use wires, screws, nuts, bolts, and springs meaning it is very easy and safe to use. It works by employing a method called ‘mandibular repositioning’ by which it gently advances your lower jaw forward, and creates an open airway through your throat. The process supposedly eliminates the vibrations that cause snoring. It is common that most people make the mistake of trying the device right out of the box. And thus they return the item. The SnoreRx is a custom fit device and is intended to be boiled before being used. Do not use SnoreRx without boiling it to a custom fit first.

During my research on the Internet I encountered tons of reviews about SnoreRx. It is important to look at customer reviews in order to see if the product really works and if it does does it work like the company claims it does. A person stated the following

“I was a bit reluctant to try a stop-snoring aid thinking that it probably wouldn’t work, but with my wife not getting decent sleep many nights I figured I need to try something. I must say that after a few weeks that it has been a successful purchase. The way they describe using the device and what to expect was spot on. Following the instructions, within a few nights I was used to it and not snoring hardly at all. I adjusted it forward 1 millimeter after about a week and now have settled into it as a habit. It is very well made and the ability to adjust it after custom-fitting it to my teeth is must-have functionality. Overall I would say that it has been a worthwhile purchase to reduce my snoring to a very minimal amount, at least enough to not bother my wife.”

that basically says that he had results after only few nights and that is easy to use while it doesn’t take much to get accustomed to.

Here is what other person had to say about this product

“Snorex is a win for me. I was definitely skeptical whether it would work. I coupled it with a snoring monitor app for my iPhone. The app proves to me that there is a remarkable difference with the device. The combination also helped me make setting adjustments on my snorex for improved results. Most importantly, my fiancée is staying in bed. I had no idea how bad my snoring was and greatful that snorex delivered.” ,

this person even tested it with an application in order to see if it really works.

As with all products SnoreRx has it cons too but do they outweigh the pros?

SnoreRx is not a product that you put and everything is great instantly, it seems that you need some time to become use to it, at least a few nights. Depending on your location the delivery rates can be a bit pricey. If you use dentures then you might have some issues with this product but that will be the case with any other mouthpiece.

So does SnoreRx works? Most certainly. Are the claims by its manufacturer correct? It seems so. In my opinion you should give this product a try if you have snoring issues. It could be well worth your money. Hopefully this review made some things clear about SnoreRx or it helped you find the right snoring device for you. Give me your feedback on this product!

SnoreRx Information

  • Q. How does SnoreRx work?

SnoreRx is a custom-fitted mandibular advancement device (MAD) which gently advances your lower jaw forward. It opens your airway at night, improves your breathing and reduces your irritating snoring-resulting in a better night’s sleep, the elimination of daytime drowsiness and restoration of energy. Unlike other oral appliances, SnoreRx is unique because it allows the user to calibrate their device to a custom setting at any time in 1 millimeter increments to achieve a more effective setting.

  • Q. Is SnoreRx safe?

Yes. The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine acknowledges that oral appliances are a safe and effective way to stop snoring. SnoreRx is also FDA cleared for the treatment of snoring.

  • Q. Are there any choking hazards with SnoreRx?

No, SnoreRx is much too large to be swallowed. The device contains no small pieces for all 4 components that make up the device are significant in size.

  • Q. Is your product FDA approved?

Yes, SnoreRx is FDA approved for the treatment of snoring.

  • Q. What is SnoreRx made out of?

SnoreRx is constructed out of two medical grade plastic trays and insert pads of medical grade copolymers on the top and bottom (where you set your custom tooth impression). All components are hypoallergenic, BPA free, and approved for use by the FDA.

  • Q. Where is SnoreRx manufactured?

All SnoreRx components are proudly made in the USA, locally in Southern California.

Preparation and Adjustment

  • Q. How do I custom fit my SnoreRx?

Step 1: Bring the water in the cup to full boil using a microwave
Step 2: Drop SnoreRx in the boiled water for precisely 90 seconds, then remove using a spatula or tongs.
Step 3: Quickly dip SnoreRx into a bowl of tap water for two to three seconds to remove any hot water. Patients should then bite down firmly into the device for 30 seconds. Please note that SnoreRx does not retain heat and will not burn your mouth.
Step 4: Remove SnoreRx from the mouth and place it in a bowl
of tap water for 60 seconds to set the impression.

Please follow the instructions in the instruction booklet for directions on custom fitting the device. A more detailed list of instructions are available here.

  • Q. Can I re-fit SnoreRx?

Yes, if your current impression does not display clearly defined teeth marks you may re-do the impression. You can reboil and fit SnoreRx up to three times to create a better impression.

  • Q. Is SnoreRx adjustable?

Yes. Unlike any other products, SnoreRx offers patented micro adjustability by the user in 1 millimeter increments up to 6 millimeters. This is critical to achieving optimal clinical effectiveness. Additionally, if future changes are needed, they can be easily made.

  • Q. How do I adjust SnoreRx?

Hold the device in a reverse ‘C’ position. Use both hands to hold the upper tray in place and use both thumbs to push both sides forward. The lower tray will click forward one notch at a time. Squeezing in both sides of the lower tray simultaneously will disengage the locking mechanism allowing for the upper tray to be moved.

Advancing is best done by pulling forward the lower jaw piece. It’s helpful to try to move one side at a time, one setting at a time. For example, rock the left side back one notch, then rock it back and move the right side back one notch. Make sure that both sides of the device read the same number or millimeter increment. Future adjustments may be made as needed.

Video instructions on how to adjust SnoreRx are available here.

  • Q. What setting is best to use SnoreRx?

Most users find success on the factory setting of three millimeters, which is why we recommend customizing the device on that setting. If you notice the snoring is still occurring you would then advance the settings to four millimeters. Each setting should be worn a minimum of 3 to 5 nights prior to adjusting. The idea is to gradually increase the settings until your snoring is reduced or completely eliminated. It is important that each side of the device always reflects the same setting.

  • Q. Does SnoreRx come apart?

SnoreRx is designed to remain as one solid unit at all times, during the custom impression process and usage. Do not attempt to remove the soft material on the top and bottom from the hard plastic – they are not designed to be removed and will not go back into place.

Usage and Cleaning

  • Q. Is SnoreRx difficult to get used to wearing?

Typically, the adjustment period takes about three to five nights of consistent use. It is perfectly normal for your jaw, teeth, and gums to feel moderately sore and fatigued at first. This discomfort is much like getting used to braces or a retainer for the first time. However, it is not normal to experience severe, sharp, or ongoing pain. If you experience these problems or believe you have TMD, discontinue use immediately and contact your health care professional.

  • Q. How do I know SnoreRx is working?

The easiest way to tell is if the device is working is by having someone nearby letting you know if you’ve stopped snoring with the device. Beyond that, if you are starting to get more restful sleep and waking up more revitalized, SnoreRx is doing its job. For tech savvy users, smartphone apps are available to snoring sounds as you sleep.

  • Q. Does SnoreRx allow mouth breathing?

SnoreRx does allow for full airflow through the V-Flow™ design. While the device allows for mouth-breathing, it is by no means required.

  • Q. How should I care for and clean my SnoreRx?

It is important that you allow SnoreRx to dry every day after usage, as it eliminates bacterial buildup on the device. Wash the device off with water and allow it to sit and dry after each use. We recommend users to clean SnoreRx with an ultrasonic cleaner and/or a dentures cleaning solution. Brushing the device with a toothbrush, toothpaste and warm water is also effective. Avoid use of abrasive cleansers such as ammonia, bleach and other household cleaning solutions.

  • Q. How often should I clean SnoreRx?

We recommend that you clean SnoreRx one or two times per week. Consider cleaning the device more often if the device develops any odors, tastes, or stains.

  • Q. How long does SnoreRx last?

SnoreRx typically lasts anywhere from 12 to 18 months. This is simply how long the product lasts on average and is not guaranteed to last this long. Those with teeth grinding issues (bruxism) may need to replace the device sooner.

Factors & Considerations

  • Q. Can I wear SnoreRx with dentures or a bridge?

We do not recommend SnoreRx based on this pathology and advise users to consult their dentist.

  • Q. I have teeth implants. Can I use SnoreRx?

Those who have had implants within the last 12 months are not typically candidates for SnoreRx. Implants that have had 12 months or longer to ossify are not an issue.

  • Q. Can I wear SnoreRx with braces or retainers?

SnoreRx is not recommended for patients that are currently undergoing orthodontic treatment. We would ask that you consult your orthodontist before purchasing and using our product.

  • Q. Does SnoreRx cause TMJ and pain after use?

No. SnoreRx protects users against temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) by our patented micro-calibration design. TMJ can be caused by inferior products that only lock you into one standard setting.

  • Q. Can SnoreRx be used to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)?

No. SnoreRx is only intended for the treatment of snoring. It is not intended to treat sleep apnea or any other medical condition.

  • Q. Does SnoreRx meet the new recommended standards of Medicare?

Yes! SnoreRx is the only product that meets and exceeds the new recommended product performance standards of Medicare.

Mandibular micro adjustment in one millimeter increment
Posi-Lock™ – Locks in the preselected setting
    Dual durometer design increases comfort

  • Q. Is your product covered by Medicare or insurance?

Most insurance companies deem snoring to be a non-medical issue, therefore Medicare and insurance do not cover SnoreRx.
