At The Warming Store we have cooling vests available for a range of activities and uses.
How do they work?
We have 3 styles of cooling vests which work in different ways to help you keep your cool.
Evaporative Cooling Vest
These use the natural effect of evaporation to cool you down. When these vests are placed into water the specially made non-toxic material absorbs hundreds of times its weight in water. This stored water is then slowly released. In hot areas this water will start to evaporate. As it does it the heat from the wearer is transferred into the air helping to reduce your temperature.
Phase Changing Vests
These non-toxic vests have a large pocket front and back in which a refrigerated, frozen, water or air conditioned cooled pack can be inserted. This flexible cooled pack will then help reduce the wearers’ temperature for up to 4 hours. These inserts can be refrozen as and when necessary. Each vest comes with one set of packs. For all day cooling we suggest ordering extra packs which can be kept in a freezer or cooler until it is necessary to exchange them.
These are the most advanced and the coolest of the cooling vests. Based on technology developed by NASA, these shirts work by circulating cool water through non-kink tubing around the wearer’s body. As this water moves through the system it takes the heat away from the body cooling you down. This water then flows back through the System Unit to a reserve of ice cold water. The circulating water automatically cools before being re-circulated around the vest.

The HyperKewl Khaki Evaporative Cooling Sport Vest is the frontline in the fight against Heat Stress. This lightweight vest uses Patented Hyperkewl Farbic to deliver Super Effective Cooling to all key parts of the body's core. The Lightweight vest can be activated with as little as a 2-3 minute soak and will offer active cooling for 5-10 hours. The Water Resistant innter liner keeps the wearer dry while being cooled. Simple VNeck closure works for a wide variety of people and jobs.

Q: Is HyperKewl Cooling fabric safe?
A: Yes. It contains non-toxic polymer. See our MSDS under "Documents".
Q: How does it work?
A: Our HyperKewl is sewn into the lining of all our garments. The special fabric absorbs water very quickly and releases it very slowly for extended cooling from evaporation.
Q: How long do I hydrate the garments?
A: 1-2 minutes.
Q: What is the lifespan of the HyperKewl products?
A: HyperKewl fabric is designed to provide up to 100 wet/dry cycles. Water absorbency will diminish over time as HyperKewl fibers migrate and entangle within the fabric structure. You may see an initial decline in the absorption of water after 5-10 wet/dry cycles as the fabric "settles," but absorbency will remain relatively stable after this initial 5-10 wet/dry cycles. This is normal and the fabric is still very effective at water absorption and evaporation. Absorbency will also be impacted by hydration length, garment care, water quality, as well as other factors.
Q: How much will the items weigh?
A: You control the weight of your garment by how long you hydrate it. Our #6529 Sport Cooling Vest will weigh approximately 750 grams after a 2 minute soaking.
Q: Can I silk screen and/or embroider the products?
A: We recommend embroidery.
Q: How can I wash the garments?
A: In order to maintain the longest life of the product and HyperKewl Cooling fabric it is best to hand wash the garments with a gentle soap and brush. Avoid soaking the garments in soapy water. Simply use the brush to wash off the garment.
Q: What temperature is the Phase Change Material (PCM)?
A: A comfortable 14 degrees C.
Q: How do you activate PCM?
A: Solidify the inserts by placing them in a fridge, freezer, or ice water.
Q: How long does it take to activate them?
A: Approximately 30 minutes.
Q: How much does PCM weigh?
A: PCM is 25% lighter than water.
Q: Is PCM safe?
A: Yes, it is non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, and non-flammable.
Q: Is PCM reusable?
A: Yes, the inserts can be re-activated over and over again.
Q: How long will the PCM stay activated?
A: Vest inserts will remain at 14 degrees C for up to 3 hours.
